A Rare Gift is a Hannibal/HEU fanworks exchange for fans of bottom Hannibal and other Mads characters. Each participant will receive one work of fic or art created specifically for them, based on their preferences and prompts, and will create one work of fic or art for another participant. This is a Secret Santa exchange, so all works will be anonymous until the author/artist reveal at the end of the exchange.

EXCHANGE RULES

1. All works created for this exchange MUST be centered on bottom Hannibal or another Mads HEU character. The topping character is not necessarily required to be a Hugh character (you’re welcome to request other ships — like Jack/Hannibal or Bond/Le Chiffre, for example) but cannot be a Mads character. Poly ships are welcome as long as they meet these requirements.2. By signing up for the exchange, you are agreeing to create one work of fic or art based on your recipient’s prompts/likes/etc. Writers must submit a fic of at least 1000 words. The fic must be complete, i.e. not part of a series or unfinished multi-chapter work. Artists must submit one complete piece of art. Art can be digital or traditional and can be full color or black&white, but it cannot be a simple sketch. If you feel inspired to write a 10k word fic or create more than one piece of art, you are free to do so but you are only required to meet the above guidelines.3. PARTICIPANTS MUST BE 18+. Given that the theme of this exchange is a specific sexual dynamic, all works will contain some level of sexual content, and therefore this event is NOT open to minors.4. Each participants’ signup form will include a list of preferred ships, 1-3 prompts, and a list of themes/tropes/etc. that they like as well as a list of those they don’t like. Participants will be matched based on the number of shared/similar likes. That being said, it is possible that the person you are matched with might have some items on their list that you do not like/are unwilling to write/draw and that is fine — you do not have to use those in your gift. You are not expected to include every item on their likes list but to use some/any of them along with the prompts as inspiration for your gift.5. You must NOT include anything from your recipient’s dislikes list in your work, no exceptions.6. Dead dove themes are allowed. Again, you are not required to write/draw anything you dislike or are uncomfortable with, and if you feel that you have been matched with someone whose preferences are contradictory to your own, please reach out to the mod.7. There will be two check-ins during the creation period to gauge progress. All participants are required to respond to both check-ins — if you do not respond, the mod will contact you. If you still do not respond, this will be considered forfeiture of your assignment and it will be reassigned to a pinch-hitter.8. If at any point during the exchange you feel you will be unable to complete your assignment on time, please contact the mod as soon as possible so that your assignment can be reassigned to a pinch-hitter and your recipient is not left without a gift.9. This is a Secret Santa exchange, so gifts will be anonymous until the author/artist reveals. Please DO NOT post about the work you are creating publicly on social media. If you have any questions/concerns about your assignment, please reach out directly to the mod. If you have a question for your recipient, please contact the mod and they will contact your recipient on your behalf.10. All participants are required to have an AO3 account, as all works will be posted to the exchange collection on the site.
